Introduction

The various forms of dance - from formal to folk and beyond - have inspired some of the most appealing and popular works in the classical music repertoire.

Reiko’s project is a unique exploration of the dance form in classical music, with programmes featuring works from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras through to Contemporary repertoire.

Example programmes

Bach and Contemporary.  A programme of contrasts including Bach (Suite), Debussy (Tarantelle styrienne, Mazurka) and Thomas Adès (Three Mazurkas).

Classical and Romantic.  Including Weber (Invitation to the Dance), Chopin (Waltzes, Polonaises and Mazurkas), Rachmaninov (Italian Polka and Minuet from Suite in D minor)
